QUICK GUIDE

WHAT

The Dunedin Fringe Festival presents a festival of exceptional entertainment by local, national and international artists. Acts range from comedy, dance, theatre and music, to performance, film and visual art with much blurring of the boundaries in between.

WHERE

The 2008 Dunedin Fringe Festival was centred on the Museum Reserve in front of the Otago Museum and next to the University of Otago. This formed a hub which included a cluster of venues including the Playhouse, Allen Hall, Mary Hopewell and Hutton Theatres. Events also take place in bar, galleries, parks, streets and alleyways across the city.

WHEN

The 2009 Dunedin Fringe Festival will take place from 26 March–5 April. There are 5-10 different acts spread over each day allowing audiences to view multiple shows.

WHO

The Dunedin Fringe Festival features over 40 events by as many as 400 performers from throughout New Zealand and abroad. The artists are a mix of emerging and established artists, all with a passion for their work and talent to burn.

WHY

The Fringe supports experimentation, innovation and new ideas. It is an opportunity for performers and artists to showcase their talents, and for the public of Dunedin to enjoy a wide range of premier works created specifically for the festival.
