Get Involved

Volunteers - Get stuck in!

Volunteers are an essential cog in the Fringe machine! We need dozens of helpers to ensure the smooth running of this year’s Festival.

The Fringe is looking for enthusiastic, reliable people of all ages to be part of a crew of volunteers. Tasks might include: coordinating people or events, production & stage assistants, front of house staff at venues (box office & ushers), programme & poster distributors, information kiosk assistants, stewards, sourcing materials, lifting equipment, putting up signage, administrative work, etc. You can donate a few hours here or there or come on board for the whole ride…

Being a Fringe volunteer includes all sorts of perks like: meeting new people from Dunedin and all over the world, learning new skills, receiving a limited edition Festival t-shirt, receiving a Fringe Crew Pass which allows you 50% discount to artist-run shows and free entry to Fringe-run events, complimentary tickets (for the hard workers!), refreshments and, most of all, heaps of fun! You also get to see behind the scenes of the Festival and meet a wide range of participating artists!

To find out more send an email with your name, contact details, and list any special skills you will bring to the team, to volunteer@dunedinfringe.org.nz

Artist Registration

As an open-access Festival any artist can register to participate. Artist registration takes place from September to November of the year prior to the Festival. The next Dunedin Fringe Festival is due to be held in mid march 2013 and a call for artists will be made later this year. A good place to find out about how the Festival works is by reading the Artist Information Pack but artists are also welcome to contact the Festival office to discuss their plans.

The Festival also has a funding and venue application process. The Dunedin Fringe applies to Creative New Zealand, the national funding body for the arts, to distribute grants for New Zealand artists to develop new work or to tour new work to the Festival. Artists can also apply for one our key venues which are programmed by the Festival. Applications for funding or a venue can be made as part of your registration in September or October this year.

In the mean time the best idea is to sign up to our Festival newsletter so you can stay in touch with the latest news.
